Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to get a title is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to force a third set.

He saved 4 initial break points in a close final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
